Sonia Planas, MSW, LSW

Sonia Planas, MSW, LSW, is an experienced and empathetic social worker at Hudson River Care and Counseling. Sonia sees patients virtually. Sonia listens to her clients with an open mind and heart. She has over 14 years of experience treating complex trauma, substance abuse, neglect, and abuse. Sonia works with her clients to support them in whatever problems they are facing.

Sonia attended Brigham Young University-Idaho, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology with an emphasis in Family Systems and Child Development Studies. She then went on to earn a Master of Social Work from Rutgers University in New Jersey. Sonia stays up-to-date on all credentials and training. 

Sonia uses a variety of evidence-based approaches to treat the entire human being: mind, body, and spirit. Some common techniques include cognitive-behavioral therapy, play therapy, and solution-focused therapy. Sonia works with her patients to create a personalized treatment plan, pulling from whichever therapy styles are appropriate. 

Sonia’s goal is to guide her patients to greater awareness that facilitates personal growth. She genuinely cares and has her client’s best interest in mind.

Ms. Planas is bilingual in both English and Spanish.
